Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate six new AIIMS, including the ones in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir and Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, in the next six days, officials said on Monday. The AIIMS in Samba, the foundation of which was laid by Prime Minister Modi in February 2019, is being established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. The hospital, with a cost of more than Rs 1,660 crore and an area spanning over 227 acres, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as 720 beds, medical college with 125 seats, nursing college with 60 seats, AYUSH block with 30 beds, and residential accommodation for faculty and staff, among others. PM Modi will also inaugurate various medical colleges, nursing colleges, and advanced health facilities across the country. The initiatives under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission include the establishment of new medical colleges, critical care blocks, integrated public health labs, and advanced research labs and facilities of ICMR and NHM projects. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate advanced food safety infrastructure projects and facilities in multiple states. These healthcare projects, with a total cost of Rs 11,391.79 crore, aim to bring significant advancements to the Indian healthcare system and ensure quality and accessible healthcare for all. The new medical and nursing colleges will contribute to the development of healthcare professionals in the country. The initiatives are part of the government’s efforts to prioritize healthcare and improve the overall well-being of the people. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Ministry of Health’s budget allocation has seen substantial growth, increasing from Rs 37,330 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 90,658.63 crore in 2024-25 under the NDA government.
