Abrogation of Article 370 from J&K in 2019 has broadened the region’s prospects for development and peace, previously obstructed by “dynasty politics” for seven decades, PM Narendra Modi said Tuesday in Jammu. He launched over 220 projects worth Rs 32,000 crore for the Union territory, assuring the audience that aspirations of the past 70 years would be realized under his leadership. Modi expressed satisfaction that Article 370’s removal had dismantled a “wall between the country and J&K’s development”. He highlighted the shortcomings of families that had governed J&K since independence, accusing them of prioritizing power grabs over people’s welfare. The PM also outlined the milestones achieved in education, healthcare, inclusion, and social justice in J&K. He emphasized the positive transformation in the region since the removal of Article 370, with a focus on education, connectivity, inclusivity, and development. Modi celebrated the advancements made in social justice, including granting SC status to the Valmiki community and including certain communities in the ST category. He highlighted the commendations received regarding J&K’s hospitality during his recent foreign trip. The PM also mentioned the increase in tourism and the opportunities it has created in terms of earnings. Modi inaugurated various projects, including the first electric train in Kashmir, and envisioned a future where people can travel across the country by train, starting from Kashmir. He urged the people to give BJP and NDA a 400-plus mandate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to achieve the vision of a developed J&K.
