India’s Latest Attempt to Halt Farmers’ Protests and Other Global News

Thousands of farmers in India paused their march towards Delhi after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration proposed resuming talks. This move comes as Modi seeks his third term in general elections later this year and requires support from India’s influential farmers’ bloc. However, the farmers’ unions have rejected the government’s previous proposal and plan to resume their march towards the capital on Friday if their demands are not met.

In other news, an Israeli airstrike in Syria killed at least two people in a residential building in Damascus. The attack targeted Iranians near a site used by Tehran’s military. The Israeli Defense Forces have conducted hundreds of past strikes on Iranian-linked targets and proxy groups in Syria.

Meanwhile, the European Union has passed a new sanctions package targeting Chinese and Indian companies that support Russia’s war efforts. This is the EU’s 13th set of sanctions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but it is the first time that the bloc has targeted Chinese and Indian corporations for their third-party involvement.

These developments highlight the ongoing challenges and conflicts faced by various nations in the global arena.
