The Supreme Court is set to review a plea on Wednesday regarding the rescheduling of the NEET MDS 2024 examination. Originally scheduled for March 18, 2024, the exam may be postponed if the petitioners’ request is granted. The petition also seeks an extension of the eligibility cut-off by adjusting the internship completion dates. Aspirants have approached the Supreme Court seeking a postponement of the NEET MDS 2024 exam to July, aligning it with the NEET PG schedule to ensure adequate preparation time. The Supreme Court had previously issued a notice in relation to this matter and tentatively scheduled the hearing for February 16.

The All India Students’ Union (AISU) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), urging the rescheduling of the NEET MDS exam.

The internship completion dates are vital for eligibility in taking the exams. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has set the internship cut-off date for NEET PG as August 15, while the last date for NEET MDS stands at March 31. However, several candidates believe that the decision to postpone the NEET PG 2024 exam from March 3 to July 7 is discriminatory, especially when compared to the NEET MDS exam. They argue that previous NEET MDS exams have synchronized with NEET PG, therefore it is essential to align the schedules to allow for sufficient preparation time.

In 2023, the Telangana High Court dismissed a writ petition seeking the rescheduling of NEET MDS 2023. The court emphasized the need for a uniform cut-off date for MBBS/BDS course completion across the country to ensure fair preparation time.

Key dates for NEET MDS 2024 include the registration process closing on February 19, 2024. The edit window will open from February 22 to February 25, 2024, with the final edit window open from March 5 to March 7, 2024. Admit cards will be issued on March 13, and the examination is scheduled for March 18, 2024. The NEET MDS 2024 results will be declared on April 18, 2024. This information provides candidates with a timeline for the examination process.

In conclusion, the Supreme Court’s review of the plea seeking the rescheduling of the NEET MDS 2024 exam and extension of the eligibility cut-off highlights the importance of synchronization of schedules to ensure fair preparation time for aspirants. The All India Students’ Union has also raised its concerns regarding the exam. The decision on the plea will have a significant impact on the NEET MDS 2024 examination and the future of aspirants.
