More Efforts to be Put in From Both Sides for Consensus: Union Minister Arjun Munda on Farmers’ Protest

The Centre has reiterated its commitment to finding a solution to the ongoing farmers’ protest through discussions and meaningful talks. Union agriculture minister, Arjun Munda, urged protesting farmers for a fifth round of talks, stating that more efforts are needed from both sides to reach an agreement. He emphasized that the Government of India is committed to working for the interest of farmers and called for a solution that is beneficial to everyone. Munda highlighted the achievements in grain production and the horticulture sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He also mentioned the transfer of funds directly into farmers’ accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer in Agriculture Mechanisation (DBT). Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra expressed hope for a resolution before the start of the wheat procurement season in March and stated that the Government is willing to address the concerns of the protesting farmers. The Centre continues to engage in discussions and remains optimistic about reaching a consensus.
