Strong Families Needed to Combat Drug Addiction: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25 stressed on the need to protect the youth from drug addiction and said a strong family support system is needed to combat the vice. Speaking at the Ashwamedha Yagya event organized by the Gayatri Parivar, Modi emphasized the importance of families as institutions for building a substance-free India. He stated that when family as an institution weakens, it has an all-round impact, and dangers increase when family members do not meet or sit together for days. Modi praised the ‘Gayatri Parivar’ for its work in steering youths away from addiction and towards nation-building activities. He mentioned that drug addiction can cause great harm to society and the country, and highlighted the government’s commitment to a drug-free India. Modi also discussed the outreach efforts conducted in collaboration with social and religious organizations, including bike rallies, oath-taking ceremonies, and street plays. He stated that involving the youth in national and global campaigns helps keep them away from the wrong path. The Prime Minister also spoke about the government’s focus on sports and science, emphasizing the transformative impact of initiatives like the Chandrayaan mission. He mentioned the Fit India Movement and the Khelo India as initiatives that motivate the youth and discourage substance abuse. Modi also highlighted the ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ organization, which aims to harness the power of youth for nation-building. In conclusion, he expressed optimism about India’s journey towards becoming a global leader with individual development shaping national development.
