After rounds of inconclusive talks between the Centre and farmers over their demands, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said that there should be a solution through dialogue and continuous talks with the Centre. He emphasized that people living in forest areas, such as Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, worship the environment and protect it. Tikait also emphasized that the army and farmers are not enemies, as many soldiers also come from farming backgrounds. Meanwhile, another protester, Darshan Singh, died of cardiac arrest at the Khanauri border, bringing the toll to 4. Sarwan Singh Pandher, the General Secretary of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, demanded a job opportunity for the victim’s family. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the formation of a three-member committee of ministers to negotiate with farmers. She highlighted PM Modi’s efforts for farmers’ welfare, stating that he has taken numerous steps to increase their income and support them in various ways.
