The US military intercepted a small balloon over the state of Utah on Friday, stating that it did not pose a threat to civil aviation or to national security. The balloon, which was unable to maneuver itself, was traveling between 43,000 and 45,000 feet in altitude. The North American Aerospace Defense Command did not comment on the incident. This comes just over a year after a US fighter jet shot down a Chinese spy balloon off the coast of South Carolina.
