Complete Projects on Time or Face Penalties: CM Eknath Shinde

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has been instructed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to ensure the timely completion of housing projects, with penalties imposed on builders for any delays. This announcement came during the lottery draw event for 5,311 MHADA homes in Thane’s Gadkari Rangayatan. While congratulating the winners, Chief Minister Shinde expressed concerns over delays in housing projects and stressed the importance of fulfilling the aspirations of applicants waiting for quality homes.

Shinde also announced plans to simplify procedures to ensure that MHADA can effectively deliver homes to the thousands of applicants. The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to boost the economy and transform Maharashtra into a trillion-dollar economy, emphasizing the government’s determination to prioritize economic growth.

Shinde commended MHADA and its CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, along with Housing Minister Atul Save, for their efforts in providing low-cost housing in comparison to private housing. He mentioned that MHADA has already provided nine lakh homes and initiated housing projects for mill workers, citing the example of the Modella mill in Thane.

Shinde also highlighted the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana beyond urban areas to rural regions, with 30,000 homes in Solapur being allotted through a lottery. He assured transparency in the lottery process and emphasized the government’s commitment to serving all citizens, marking a departure from the policies of the previous administration.

To benefit the consumer directly, Shinde called for the relaxation of the rules and regulations of MHADA. He stated that the government has taken numerous decisions over the past two years to improve basic amenities, including the construction of vital bridges like the Atal Setu and the Balasaheb Thackeray Expressway. These infrastructure projects aim to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity, ultimately benefiting the residents of Thane.

Shinde also mentioned that the state has become attractive to foreign direct investment, expressing gratitude to the people of Thane for their overwhelming support. He attributed his position as Chief Minister to their unwavering affection and extended his best wishes to everyone once again. The event was attended by Housing Minister Atul Save, MLAs Sanjay Kelkar, Niranjan Davkhare, former MLA Ravindra Phatak, and BJP Thane district president Sanjay Waghule, along with MHADA CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal.
