Two Trinamool ministers, Partha Bhowmik and Sujit Bose, visited SandeshKhali area in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Sunday to listen to people who have been protesting against the local leaders. The protesters have alleged incidents of sexual assault on women and land grabbing. Partha Bhowmik, in-charge of the district, urged people to come and lodge their complaints. Trinamool leader Ajit Maity, a close aide of Shahjahan Sheikh, had to seek refuge in a neighbor’s house after being protested by women. The police detained Ajit Maity after rescuing him from the protest. Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee broke his silence over the alleged sexual assault and stated that his party was not shielding anyone. He assured that the Trinamool government will take stringent action against anyone who has done wrong. Abhishek Banerjee also criticized the BJP, claiming that they were visiting SandeshKhali to maintain media hype, as instructed by the party’s leaders in New Delhi.
