Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually laid the foundation stones for redevelopment of 33 railway stations and 72 other projects in the East Central Railway (ECR) zone under the Amrit Bharat Stations Scheme. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, along with deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, joined the function through videoconference.
According to the press statement issued by the chief minister’s office after the function, the 33 railway stations that will be redeveloped in Bihar include Barauni, Siwan, Munger, Thawe, Sabaur, Araria, Shivnarayanpur, Dauram Madhepura, Dehri-on-Sone, Guraru, Karhagola Rd, Chausa, Laheriasarai, Banka, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Supaul, Nawada, Raxaul, Motipur, Lukhisarai, Masrakh, Rafiganj, Mairwa, Piro, Bikramganj, Labha, Janakpur Road, Chakia, Nabinagar Road, Ghorassahan, Salmari, Ekma, and Shahpur Patoree.
Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Jayant Kumar Choudhary stated that foundation stones for new projects were laid at 12 locations in the division. These projects include three station redevelopments and three each of road overbridges (ROBs), road underbridges (RUBs), and limited-height subways (LHSs) to be completed at a cost of Rs171 crore. Choudhary expressed the belief that these projects would give a new face to railway infrastructure and fulfill the long-pending demands of people in the state.
