Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra, expressing confidence that the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure over 400 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. He emphasized that the next five years would be marked by rapid development. Addressing a public rally, Modi highlighted the accomplishments of his government over the past ten years, stating that they had laid a strong foundation for the country’s future. He pledged to continue working towards empowering the poor, farmers, youths, and women. Modi also criticized former Union Minister Sharad Pawar, accusing him of diverting funds intended for farmers while serving as Agriculture Minister during the Congress-led UPA government from 2004 to 2014. Modi contrasted this with his government’s direct transfer of Rs 21,000 crore to the bank accounts of nine crore beneficiary farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. He claimed that his government ensured that the poor received their entitled benefits, unlike in the past when Congress governments allegedly siphoned off funds. Modi also emphasized the necessity of water and drew attention to its scarcity in Vidarbha, Maharashtra. He stated that before 2014, only 15 out of 100 families in India had access to piped water, while now, 75 out of 100 rural families receive drinking water through pipes. Modi attacked the Congress for delaying the completion of 100 large-scale irrigation projects and asserted that his government had completed over 60 such projects, with others nearing completion. He highlighted his government’s efforts to improve the living conditions of Maharashtra’s Adivasi communities and launched a Rs 23,000 crore welfare scheme for them. During his visit, Modi inaugurated various development projects and disbursed funds to farmers and women’s self-help groups. The Prime Minister also distributed Ayushman health cards and launched the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana for OBC category beneficiaries in Maharashtra. Additionally, he inaugurated multiple rail and road projects aimed at strengthening the state’s infrastructure.
