India’s Only Indelible Ink Supplier Gears Up for Lok Sabha Elections

It’s super busy time at Mysore Paints and Varnish Ltd (MPVL), the sole supplier of a crucial product for elections in India – indelible ink. MPVL has received its largest order to date for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The company has completed 70% of the production and aims to finish the rest by March 15. India will need 26.55 lakh vials of the marker costing Rs 55 crore for the elections. The demand for indelible ink has been rising due to the increase in the number of voters in every election. MPVL has also received export orders from 60 countries. The company is now exploring the development of marker pens to replace the current glass vials containing the ink. The cost of each vial has been revised upward, attributed to the fluctuating price of silver nitrate. MPVL is gearing up for more orders over the next few months from other nations such as Mongolia, Malaysia, and Fiji Islands.
