Former Union minister Suresh Pachauri, who has served 24 years or four consecutive terms in Rajya Sabha from 1984 to 2008, has resigned from the Congress party. Pachauri, known for his loyalty to the Gandhi family, departed the party along with a former MP, three former MLAs, and several prominent office-bearers in Madhya Pradesh. The resignations followed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in the state. The exodus from the party is seen as a reflection of the growing disillusionment with the party’s future prospects, particularly in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections.
