The video footage of the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a designated terrorist in India, has emerged online, causing a stir in diplomatic relations between India and Canada. The incident took place on June 18, 2023, in Surrey, British Columbia, when Nijjar, who was the president of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, was shot and killed outside a Gurdwara. The video, obtained by The Fifth Estate and verified by multiple sources, shows a highly coordinated attack involving six men and two vehicles. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government of involvement in the assassination, but India denied the allegation. The video captures Nijjar leaving the Gurdwara’s parking lot in his grey Dodge Ram pickup truck. As he approaches the exit, a white sedan blocks his path, and two men quickly approach and shoot him before fleeing in a silver Toyota Camry. Despite the passage of time, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has failed to identify any suspects or make any arrests in connection with Nijjar’s killing. The assassination has caused a significant diplomatic dispute between India and Canada, with India dismissing Trudeau’s allegations as ‘absurd and motivated’ and demanding evidence. The ongoing investigation continues to draw attention as both countries navigate this complex and sensitive issue.
