Farmers, Wrestlers, and Agniveer: Reasons for Brijendra’s Congress Switch
    Uncategorized

Brijendra Singh, perhaps the first sitting MP to leave the ruling BJP, has joined the Congress party. Singh cited multiple reasons for his departure from the BJP, including concerns over farmers’ issues, women wrestlers, and the Agniveer scheme for armed forces recruitment. He also expressed discomfort with the BJP-JJP alliance. Singh’s family had previously opposed the alliance, and there were speculations that he would not be fielded again as the Hisar MP. Congress is considering fielding Singh from the Hisar parliamentary seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Singh comes from a political family with deep connections to Congress, and his switch is expected to boost the party’s influence in certain districts of Haryana.
