Indian hospitality biggie ITC Hotels is set to make its international debut with ITC Ratnadipa in Colombo, following in the footsteps of other major Indian hotel chains such as Taj and Oberoi. ITC Hotels, which will soon be separated from its parent company, has adopted an “asset right” strategy that has allowed it to open 24 properties in destinations near India in the past 24 months. The company’s two recently launched brands, Storii and Mementos, are also experiencing rapid growth. For example, a second luxury Mementos property is set to open in Jaipur by the end of this month. While the chain has made significant progress in northern India, it is now increasing its presence in the southern region as well as abroad. ITC Hotels recently announced a management agreement with Narne Hotels and Resorts to launch a Welcomhotel in Madikeri, Karnataka. This move further strengthens ITC Hotels’ presence in Karnataka, where it currently operates 11 hotels and over 1,300 rooms across various brands including ITC Hotels, Welcomhotel, Fortune, and Welcomheritage.
