A special judge on Monday issued a bailable warrant of Rs 10,000 against BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur for failing to appear before the NIA court in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. Thakur, who is an accused in the case, had sought exemption from appearing on health grounds and submitted a photocopy of a medical certificate. The judge had allowed the exemption for that specific day but directed Thakur to appear on Monday with the original medical certificate. However, she failed to do so. The judge stated that despite clear directions, Thakur neither appeared nor provided the original medical certificate. Thakur now has the option to appear before the court and seek cancellation of the warrant.
