Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy’s brother, G Madhusudhan Reddy, has been arrested for alleged illegal mining. He was taken into custody and later remanded in judicial custody after a complaint was filed by the Mandal Revenue Officer accusing him of engaging in illegal and excess mining activities. Mr. Mahipal Reddy, the MLA, has claimed that his brother’s arrest is a politically motivated act by the ruling party ahead of the elections. He has stated that there was no illegal mining as alleged. The arrest drew protests, with a group of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) activists gathering at the police station to block the vehicle carrying Mr. Reddy to court.
