In a setback for the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), TRS MLA Danam Nagender met Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday. It is not yet confirmed whether Nagender will join the Congress, but his meeting with the Chief Minister suggests that he will no longer be associated with the BRS. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and AICC in-charge for Telangana Deepadas Munsi were present at the meeting.
Nagender, who previously belonged to the Congress, joined the BRS in 2018 and won as an MLA in 2018 and 2023. He began his political career with the Congress and served as a Congress MLA from Asifnagar from 1994 to 2014. Nagender also worked as a Minister in the Congress government from 2009 to 2014. However, he lost in the 2014 elections to a BJP candidate.
Meanwhile, another BRS MP, Pasnuri Dayakar, met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. Dayakar’s meeting came after being denied a BRS ticket for the Parliament elections. Kadiyam Kavya, daughter of senior BRS MLA Kadiyam Srihari, has been named the BRS candidate for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
