Bengaluru resident N Vijay Kumar, 29, was recently arrested for attempting to steal a sugarcane juice machine. Kumar, who had been previously arrested for stealing five bikes, believed that the police would not pursue his latest crime. However, he miscalculated, and the Talaghattapura police team apprehended him and recovered the stolen machine.
The sugarcane juice machine belonged to Syed Nafiz, who would tie the machine with a gunny bag each night before going home. Kumar spotted the machine while he was roaming in the area and decided to steal it. He took a picture of the machine and showed it to a scrap merchant in Puttenahalli, claiming to be the owner and seeking to sell it. After negotiations, the scrap merchant agreed to purchase the machine for Rs 30,000. On the night of March 1, Kumar and an accomplice named Pasha stole the machine.
This is not Kumar’s first brush with the law. Last year, he was arrested for stealing five bikes. The fact that he had been involved in previous criminal activities did not deter him from attempting to steal the sugarcane juice machine. However, his plan failed, leading to his arrest and the successful recovery of the stolen machine.
