Film buffs are baffled by how the Oscar committee seems to be shutting out Martin Scorsese. The veteran filmmaker’s recent film, ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’, was up for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture and Direction, but he walked away empty-handed. Scorsese has now earned more Oscar nominations (10) for Best Director than any other living director, but throughout his entire career, the 81-year-old has won just one Oscar for direction, for ‘The Departed’ (2006).

In fact, the filmmaker has received 101 Oscar nominations for 18 movies till date, but he has bagged only 20 wins.

Some major Scorsese films shut out:
– ‘Hugo’ (2011): 11 nominations, 5 wins
– ‘The Departed’ (2006): 5 nominations, 4 wins
– ‘The Aviator’ (2004): 11 nominations, won 5
– ‘Gangs of New York’ (2002): 10 nominations, zero wins
– ‘Goodfellas’ (1990): 6 nominations, 1 win
– ‘Raging Bull’ (1981): 8 nominations, two wins
– ‘Taxi Driver’ (1976): 4 nominations, zero wins
