A 5-year-old boy with speech and hearing disabilities got locked up inside a room at the government general hospital in Kurnool, India. The boy’s parents had brought him to the hospital for treatment, and when his mother briefly left the ward, he wandered into the Anesthesia HOD room. The hospital staff, unaware that the boy was inside, locked the room from outside. The boy, unable to raise an alarm due to his disabilities, was eventually found by the staff the next morning. He had survived by drinking water from the refrigerator in the room. His parents were relieved to be reunited with him.
