Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur claimed on Friday that the Congress party has been attempting to bring back its six rebel leaders who had voted for the BJP candidate during the Rajya Sabha polls. Thakur addressed a press conference and revealed that the Congress is engaged in a situation where they are persuading the rebels to rejoin the party. The six Congress MLAs lost their state assembly membership and internal posts last month but still remain in the party. They have been staying outside Himachal since their rebellion began. Thakur also mentioned that three senior Congress leaders have been in contact with the rebels and have informed them that the party high command intends to replace Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu after the Lok Sabha polls. Additionally, he claimed that the rebels have been offered important party positions and tickets to contest the upcoming assembly by-elections. Thakur criticized the state government for its vindictive attitude towards the rebels and mentioned specific examples of how some rebel members are being targeted. He also commented on the protests by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating that Kejriwal’s corruption has been exposed and such protests are irrelevant.
