The Telangana state education department has taken strict action against negligence in the conduct of the SSC exam. Six officials have been suspended or relieved from their duties as they were found to be negligent in discharging their responsibilities. The suspended officials include one departmental officer and chief superintendent from Hyderabad, one chief superintendent, two departmental officers, and one custodian from Rangareddy district.
It remains unclear what exactly happened, but sources suggest that in some exam centers, the complete answer booklet was not delivered to the students, leading to confusion. Despite this, a significant number of students appeared for the exam, with an attendance rate of 99.67% among registered candidates. Among private candidates, the attendance rate was 87.35%, with 5,301 candidates appearing for the exams.
Fortunately, no malpractice cases were reported during the exam. So far, four examinations have been completed, and the next scheduled examination is Science.
This negligence on the part of the officials is a matter of concern as it directly affects the students’ academic future. The education department must ensure such incidents do not happen in the future and take necessary steps to maintain the integrity and smooth conduct of exams.
