AI will help create better products faster and more sustainably

Though most people think of artificial intelligence as a chatbot, AI is projected to change the way products are manufactured. Gian Paolo Bassi, senior vice president of global tech major Dassault Systemes, speaks to Amit Bhattacharya on his company’s vision for AI and why he is bullish about India. At Dassault Systemes, they aim to use AI to build large models of knowledge in manufacturing and design. This will enable the transfer and enhancement of knowledge specific to the design and manufacturing process, leading to the creation of better products faster and more sustainably. Bassi also highlights that while there are red lines in terms of sectors they do not want to pursue, such as the arms industry, he believes that putting red lines on progress is unnecessary. He expresses optimism about India’s potential, with the country experiencing significant growth in industries and imagination. Dassault Systemes plans to expand its employee base and focus on research and development (R&D) in India due to the availability of highly competent engineers. They are already collaborating with startups in the transportation sector, particularly in e-mobility, where 90% of vehicles are designed with their products.
