A total of 1,210 candidates across 13 states and UTs will contest the elections to 88 parliamentary constituencies in Phase II of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for April 26. Karnataka has the highest number of candidates in the fray, with 247 valid nominations out of 491 filed. Kerala received 500 nominations, out of which 194 candidates will be contesting. Maharashtra has 204 candidates left out of the 477 nominations filed. Tripura had the least number of nominations, with only 14 filed for the lone parliamentary seat, while Nanded in Maharashtra received the highest nominations at 92. In total, 2,633 nomination forms were received, out of which 1,428 were found valid upon scrutiny. After withdrawal, there are now 1,206 candidates in the fray for the Phase II elections. Various states and union territories will see candidates competing for the LS seats. Assam has 61 candidates for 5 seats, Bihar has 50 candidates for 5 seats, Chhattisgarh has 41 candidates for 3 seats, J&K has 22 candidates for 1 seat, Karnataka has 247 candidates for 14 seats, Kerala has 194 candidates for 20 seats, MP has 88 candidates for 7 seats, Maharashtra has 204 candidates for 8 seats, Rajasthan has 152 candidates for 13 seats, Tripura has 9 candidates for 1 seat, UP has 91 candidates for 8 seats, and Bengal has 47 candidates for 3 seats.
