A 46-year-old auditor collapsed and died on Thursday night after being punched thrice on the head while leaving the Tiruvallur All Women Police Station where he was summoned and warned against harassing a woman working in the same building as he did. The assailant was the younger brother of the woman.

Police had called in auditor Robert and his family and the woman’s family after they complained that he kept making lewd comments to her despite being warned.

Robert and the woman worked for different companies, but their offices were in the same building in Tiruvallur. Both families reached a compromise in front of police and Robert was let off with a warning after he gave a written undertaking that he would not harass the woman.

Woman’s brother who hit the harasser is now in police custody.

However, her brother Mouli, 23, who was not present at the police station when the compromise was reached, confronted Robert as he was leaving the place. They exchanged words and then Mouli punched Robert on the head three times with his hands.

Robert collapsed, bleeding from the mouth and nose. Police rushed Robert to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His body has been sent for a post-mortem to the Tiruvallur Govt Hospital.

Mouli, who works at a private company near Sriperumbudur, was arrested by Tiruvallur town police and remanded in judicial custody on Friday.
