The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today released its manifesto – Sankalp Patra – for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. In the manifesto, the party emphasised on India’s energy security. The party aims to achieve energy independence for India by 2047 by reducing petroleum imports and harnessing renewable energy potential. They plan to target 500 GW of renewable energy through mega solar parks, wind parks, and the Green Energy Corridor project. The manifesto also promises to implement the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, enabling homes to run devices and electric vehicle charging through solar energy. The BJP also plans to increase ethanol blending in petrol to mitigate environmental degradation and provide additional income to farmers. The manifesto outlines a focus on expanding nuclear energy and incentivizing private sector investment in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and green hydrogen production. The party aims to establish nationwide smart grids integrated with advanced technology for efficient energy management. They also plan to position India as a global manufacturing hub for wind, solar, and green hydrogen, while scaling up bio-energy manufacturing from waste. To promote electric vehicles, the party pledges to support the growth of the automobile industry and invest in a nationwide EV charger infrastructure. The BJP manifesto envisions a future with secure and sustainable energy, fostered by renewable sources and clean energy technologies.
