A supposed leaked Drake track titled ‘Push Ups’ has gone viral on April 14, sparking a debate among fans as to whether the song is actually performed by Drake or an AI. The diss track targets fellow artists Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin, among others. The track was first released on a YouTube channel named PaperChaserDotCom. Although the vocals do sound like Drake, the Grammy-winning artist has neither claimed credit for the track nor released it on any of his official platforms.
Despite the uncertainty regarding the track’s origin, it has gained significant attention, accumulating over 5.6 million views. Interestingly, several other YouTube channels have uploaded the same track and none of them have been removed.
Amidst the speculation, Drake made a reference to ‘Push Ups’ on his Instagram stories. However, this post, featuring an AI deepfake depicting rap producer Metro Boomin as Nick Cannon in a scene from the movie ‘Drumline,’ does not confirm nor deny Drake’s involvement in the song.
Last year, a couple of AI-generated Drake songs also went viral, prompting his label, Universal Media Group, to issue a statement condemning the use of AI and initiating takedown requests to remove one of the tracks from streaming services.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between original songs and their AI-generated counterparts, as AI technology continues to advance rapidly.
