A day after PM Narendra Modi’s comments in Aligarh, AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed the issue by highlighting the sacrifices made by her mother, Sonia Gandhi, and her grandmother, Indira Gandhi.

She stated that Congress has been in power for a significant period since India’s Independence and questioned if anyone from the party had stolen the mangalsutras or gold and silver possessed by the public. She emphasized that women often pledge their gold and mangalsutras to bail out the family during crises.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized PM Modi’s remarks about the Congress party’s manifesto promise of wealth distribution, saying that if he understood the value of mangalsutras for Indian women, he wouldn’t have made such comments. She also mentioned that the PM should focus on job creation and supporting education expenses for children if he genuinely cared about the well-being of women and their families.
