India on Tuesday tested a new variant of a medium-range ballistic missile, according to the Defence ministry. The test, conducted by the tri-Service Strategic Forces Command, has proven the operational capability of the missile and validated new technologies. While the exact kind of missile has not been specified, sources suggest it is likely to be a land-based version of the B-05 or K-15 submarine-launched ballistic missile, which is equipped on India’s first nuclear-powered submarine, Arihant.
