Kozhikode: BJP state president K Surendran believes that the upcoming Parliament elections in Kerala will be a game changer in state politics. He confidently claims that several leaders from the LDF and UDF will join BJP after the counting day on June 4.
Surendran disclosed that talks have taken place between BJP and prominent leaders from both LDF and UDF, surprising many. He suggests that after the election, leaders from both fronts will join BJP, resulting in significant changes in state politics.
The BJP president further opined that the election is not only about people expressing their discontent with the state government but also a positive vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda. However, he believes that the UDF is unlikely to benefit from this sentiment.
Expressing his opinion on the allegations exchanged between LDF and UDF regarding their links with BJP, Surendran argues that there is no rule stating that only people from the Congress party can join the BJP. He highlights the cases of CPM members in Bengal and Tripura joining BJP in large numbers. He suggests that the allies of the UDF have lost faith in the Congress, just as the situation is the same within the LDF. In Surendran’s view, the CPM will suffer greatly in the state after the election.
Surendran also points out the existing differences within the LDF and CPM, particularly mentioning a move to project PWD minister Mohammed Riyas as the chief minister candidate in the next elections. According to him, the interference of Riyas on behalf of the chief minister is preventing ministers from making decisions in their respective ministries.
Meanwhile, Sobha Surendran, the NDA candidate in Alappuzha, revealed that she has met with seven top functionaries from political parties, including the CPM and Congress, in the state as instructed by the BJP top brass. She made these statements after casting her vote in Alathur.
