Purkal Youth Development Society (PYDS) organized a Tinkering Fest in Dehradun on Thursday to commemorate the ATL Community Day. The fest saw participation from nine schools in the city. Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) were established as a government scheme administered by the NITI Aayog in schools across the nation. The ATL Community Day is observed in April every year to mark the birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar.
The Tinkering Fest began with an instrumental recital performed by PYDS students. They showcased their musical talent by playing notes on instruments made from everyday objects such as buckets, cold drink bottles, forks, and tongs.
The first event of the fest called ‘Glam & Gears: Exploring Fashion Through Tinkering’ featured six teams. The students displayed their creativity and tinkering skills by designing innovative dresses adorned with LEDs. These dresses were crafted from waste materials including bubble wrap, polythene bags, newspapers, and pieces of discarded computer materials.
Another competition held during the fest was ‘Spark Storm’. Nine teams participated in this event, where each team had to come up with an innovative solution to a given problem.
Diana Luji, the principal of PYDS, expressed her gratitude to the participating schools for making the event a grand success.
