A sessions court in Mumbai has issued summons to cricketer Prithvi Shaw on a plea filed by social media influencer Sapna Gill. Gill has challenged the orders of a magistrate who rejected her plea seeking action against the police for failing to register a case against Shaw and his friend. The metropolitan magistrate had ordered a police enquiry on Gill’s plea seeking an FIR against Shaw for allegedly molesting her at a pub. The social media influencer filed a review application before the sessions court claiming that the order passed by the metropolitan magistrate is irregular and illegal. The court has summoned Shaw and the airport police who did not register a case when Gill approached them. Gill had approached the police station after being granted bail in a case related to an attack on Shaw. In her complaint, Gill had sought registration of an FIR against Shaw and his friend for assault under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
