Hamas’s armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, released a video on May 11 showing a man held hostage in Gaza. The 11-second clip shows the hostage speaking under duress with superimposed text in Arabic and Hebrew that reads, ‘Time is running out. Your government is lying.’ This is the third video released by the group in less than a month, showcasing captives held in Gaza. On April 27, two other hostages were shown alive in a previous video. The hostage situation in Gaza began on October 7 when Hamas militants attacked southern Israel and abducted around 250 people. Israeli officials report that 128 people are still held captive in the Palestinian territory, with 36 confirmed dead. Both sides have suffered significant casualties during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, with civilians being the primary victims.
