Sri Lanka and the world witnessed the running away of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last month. Because of the skyrocketing inflation and rapidly falling economy of the country, public temper came out in the form of violent protests on the streets and barging into the President’s house, demanding for him to drop the seat. As the event unfolded, Ranil Wickremesinghe was assigned as the new President through vote in the Parliament, who now gives the statement of the nation’s atmosphere not being optimal for Rajapaksa’s return. In his words, “I don’t believe it’s the time for him to return”. He further adds that he isn’t aware of the former’s return.
