The Association of Democratic Returns (ADR) came out with the total number of NOTA votes to be around 1.29 Crore in the span of 2018-2022. With the average state assembly NOTA votes being 64.53 Lakhs, the highest were lodged from Gopalganj, Bihar (51,660), meanwhile the lowest from Lakshadweep (100) in the Lok Sabha elections. In addition, Bihar (7,06,252) and Delhi (43,108) were the highest lodged NOTA votes 2020 state assembly elections. ADR has commented that a fresh election will be held with no prior parties participating if the number of NOTA votes exceed contesting candidates.
