“Is it not time to ungag us?”; IAS officer on Bilkis Bano Case

Smita Sabharwal, a senior IAS officer of Telangana, in progression of tweeting pro-Bilkis Bano tragedy of the 2002 Gujarat riots, was bashed by both extremists and BJP leaders, on twitter for speaking her mind. The bureaucrat commented back, interrogating the right of well-informed position holders like herself to be free from political obligations and be able to contribute to a personal opinion as the citizens of the country. B P Acharya supported her action as not being wrong as a woman or as a citizen, considering she tweeted from her personal account.
