At the inauguration of Indian Law Society’s ILS Centre for Arbitration and Mediation in Pune, SC Justice D Y Chandrachud addressed the hampered judges and the overflooded courts of India. While presenting his speech, the Justice dived in detail upon the rate of pending cases from 2010-20 on an inclination of 2.8% each year, with 4.1 crore, 59 lakh and 71,000 pending cases in district courts, high courts and Supreme Court, respectively. At such an hour, dispute resolution mechanism like hassle-free mediation with no traditional procedures is what our courts ask for, said the judge.
