The discussions to sanction Indian defence forces to buy equipment under emergencies and speculations of war, are being considered. Under this allowance, the traditional time of estimated 5 years to acquire weaponry, will be cut short on a fast-track basis and permit the forces to directly pick up ammunition without the approval of MoD. Special instructions include buying of only Indian instruments and a budget of 500 crore per unit. A significant meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the three Chiefs and the Defence Secretory concerning the same will be held soon.
