Young girls being sold like commodity to adjust debts in Rajasthan

In a recently discovered case of Rajasthan, the National Human Rights Commission has found out of the normalized practice of selling women members to settle family debts. The committee has issued notice to the government, which is currently investigating the “illegal” cases and “abominable” practices, specifically primarily noticed in Bhilwara district. These cases occur when the panchayats order the money borrowing man to sell his young daughters or sisters to settle his unpaid dues, in opposition to which the wives are threatened to be raped.
