National Judicial Appointment Commission (NJAC), which allows the CJI, PM and the Lok Sabha leader to pick its members, was declared as “unconstitutional” by the Supreme Court in 2015. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju commented upon the same saying that the unanimously passed collegium system is in agreement of both houses of the Parliament, thereby representing the will of the people, he continued by saying that the apex court is rejecting that will of the nation. The minister claims there were no better alternatives than the collegium system.
