A wild tusker, locally known as Padayappa, entered Echo Point near Munnar on Sunday night and raided three roadside shops. Traffic on the Munnar-Echo Point route was disrupted for over an hour. The tusker frequents areas in and around Munnar and is known for raiding roadside shops to eat fruits and vegetables stored in them. Padayappa also blocked a tractor on the road at Kuttiyarvalley, near Munnar last week. While there was no attack, situations like these require alertness among residents and officials to ensure safety while coexisting with wildlife.
