Heat strokes have claimed the lives of nine people in Bihar in the past 48 hours, according to the state Disaster Management department. The casualties were reported in Bhojpur, Arwal, and Jehanabad. The Minister of Bihar Disaster Management, Shahnawaz, stated that over 22 deaths attributed to heat stroke were found to be caused by other factors. Light rain in some places of the state brought relief from the scorching heat and lowered the maximum temperature by two to three degrees Celsius. Aurangabad district recorded the highest temperature of 42.1 degrees Celsius, while Patna reached a maximum of 40.5 degrees Celsius. The mercury had risen above 45 degrees Celsius on June 17.
