India Beats Lebanon, Advances to SAFF Championship Final After Penalty Shootout

The Indian football team emerged triumphant in a thrilling encounter against Lebanon, securing a spot in the final of the SAFF Championship. Following a goalless draw in regular time and extra time, India showcased their prowess in the penalty shootout. With skipper Sunil Chhetri leading the way, along with Anwar Ali, Mahesh Singh, and Udanta Singh, India found the back of the net on all four occasions. Notably, goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu stood tall in front of the goal, making a remarkable save and denying Lebanon an opportunity. The victory signifies India’s consecutive win over Lebanon, after a 2-0 result in the recent Intercontinental Cup. In the summit clash, India will face Kuwait, who secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bangladesh in the other semi-final. This will be India’s 13th appearance in the final and ninth in a row, having emerged victorious on eight occasions in the previous 13 editions of the regional tournament.
