Yuki Bhambri wins maiden ATP doubles title in Spain

Yuki Bhambri, the Indian tennis player, has claimed his first ATP World Tour doubles title at the Mallorca Championships. The tournament served as a preparatory event for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. Bhambri partnered with South African player Lloyd Harris to defeat the Dutch-Austrian duo of Robine Hasse and Philipp Oswald in the final. The match was held on the grass court, and Bhambri’s forehand winner between the opposition players marked the end of the match, leading to a jubilant celebration. Winning without dropping a single set on grass is an impressive feat in doubles. Bhambri commended his partner, stating that Harris performed exceptionally well in singles. Looking to the future, Bhambri expressed his hope of winning more titles. This victory will boost Bhambri’s ranking, propelling him to a career-best position of 58. Coinciding with his upcoming birthday, Bhambri considers this triumph as an early present. Having dealt with injuries throughout his singles career, Bhambri made the decision to focus on doubles in order to extend his time in professional tennis. In previous tournaments, he teamed up with fellow Indian player Saketh Myneni and secured two Challenger titles this season. However, in the Mallorca Championships, Bhambri played with Lloyd Harris as Myneni opted for a break. Bhambri confirmed that he will partner with an Indian player for the Wimbledon Championships.
