India Women Beat Bangladesh Women in First T20I

India Women emerged victorious against Bangladesh Women in the first T20I, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. The two teams will meet again on 11th July for the second T20I. Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper of India Women, was awarded Player of the Match for her outstanding performance. She expressed her delight with the team’s collective effort, especially praising the debutants and Deepti Sharma. Kaur also highlighted the exceptional contributions of Smriti Mandhana. Captain Nigar Sultana from Bangladesh Women admitted they fell short by 20-25 runs and suffered due to a lack of boundaries. Their fielding and bowling also struggled, apart from Salma Khatun’s performance. Marufa Akter impressed with her bowling, dismissing Shafali Verma early on. However, the third-wicket partnership between Mandhana and Kaur sealed the win for India. Bangladesh Women failed to maintain pressure with the ball and ended up leaking runs. India’s strong start with the ball made it appear that they would pose a challenge, but Mandhana and Kaur’s partnership was the turning point.
