Heavy rainfall and landslides have caused disruptions in different parts of India. In Tehri Garhwal district, the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway-58 has been blocked due to a landslide. This has led to traffic suspension and road clearing work is in progress. In Delhi, rain showers have triggered waterlogging in several parts, resulting in heavy traffic jams. Gurugram has also seen severe waterlogging. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rain in Kerala under the influence of a low-pressure zone in the Bay of Bengal. In Shimla, rainfall is set to increase from August 21 to 23, but not as heavy as before. Parts of Punjab have experienced floods, with several villages along the Sutlej River being cut off. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced financial assistance of ₹11 crore for rain-ravaged Himachal Pradesh. In response to the heavy loss of life and property, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh has declared the situation a ‘Natural Calamity Affected Area’, with around 330 people dead and over 12,000 houses damaged.
