Amethi has historically been a stronghold for the Congress party, with Rahul Gandhi himself winning the seat in 2004, 2009, and 2014. His mother, Sonia Gandhi, was also victorious in Amethi in 1999. Furthermore, the constituency has a rich legacy of being represented by notable leaders such as former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, who served in the Lok Sabha from Amethi. The Congress workers believe that Rahul Gandhi can once again win the support of the electorate in Amethi and continue the party’s legacy in the region.
